JOIN AND VOTE FOR FRANK DUARTE as your CSUN A.S Senator for the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication! To all Matadors! My name is Frank Duarte and I would like to share a little about me. I am composer, a polyglot, a horn player, an avid volunteer, a tutor and a proud alumnus from Fullerton College, (where I earned an Associate of Arts degree in Music) and a Junior currently earning my Bachelor of Music degree in Composition here at CSUN. In my own right, I am an award-winning composer better known for my compositions for wind orchestra and they are in demand and have been performed in the United States, the Philippines, and Japan by secondary, collegiate, professional and community ensembles. Esteemed by educators, conductors, performers, and composers alike, I have had the privilege of touring and visiting twenty different states making prestigious appearances at such venues as those of the Hollywood Christmas Parade, Tournament of Roses Parade, Richard M. Nixon Presidential Library and Birthplace, the Alamo Dome, the Georgia Dome, the Rose Bowl, the Lucas Oil Stadium at the Drum Corps International World Championships, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, a Clippers Game, and even the Staples Center among others by having played for some of Southern California’s most respected and well-known organizations. I have gathered many accolades for my service to the community (the National School Marching Award and the White House Presidential Service Award, in sponsorship by President Barack Obama) and for my music (the 2012 National Concert Music Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers). My music was selected among many, to be broadcast by Kinetics Radio (University of Southern California) for its special, Broadcast of Wind Ensemble Music and I have composed twice both in 2012 and 2014 for award winning bands both commissioned by the Green Band Association for their performances at the nationally televised Tournament of Roses Parade. I have composed for motion pictures in short productions such as, Pawn Takes Knight (USA), 2 Minutes (CANADA), and The Diary (PORTUGAL). My ability to interact and connect with musicians of different genres has led me to be one of the few concert music composers invited to attend the MusicCares Person of the Year Ceremonies and the 54th, 55th, and 56th Annual GRAMMY Music Awards. For many years now, I have been active as a well-rounded individual in Southern California and with that, I bring a new contrast to the student body of CSUN by having worked and continuing to work with many talented students, staff, and administrators in the US and abroad. When I transferred here, I immediately took advantage of what our wonderful campus had to offer including working closely with the International Student Association, the Tutoring Center, the Pride Center, the Music Department, and the Department of Cinema and Television Arts either as student or as part of a committee member. If given the privilege to become Senator and to represent those affiliated with Music, Theater, Art, Communication, Journalism, Communication, and Cinema and Television Arts, I will work to have students of the greater Cal State University Northridge interact more and gain a wider understanding of the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication. His mission is to provide our student body with an environment conducive to innovation, experimentation, and creativity, and encourage all members of our community to take intellectual and creative networking, internships and job opportunities on campus and off campus and to embrace changes that will enhance the fulfillment of our mission, here at Cal State University, Northridge. I respectfully ask for your vote on April 1st and 2nd, -Frank Duarte JOIN AND VOTE ONLINE OR IN PERSON!
