FREE GOLF CONTEST – BRITISH OPEN This week, we’re headed - TopicsExpress

FREE GOLF CONTEST – BRITISH OPEN This week, we’re headed across the pond to Liverpool, home of The Beatles and Hoylake, AKA Royal Liverpool. This will be the 10th time the Open has been to Hoylake, most recently in 2006 when Tiger hit 4-irons off the tee for 4 days and smoked the field on a baked course that ran hard and fast. How does a golf course get to call itself “Royal”? There are 61 golf clubs around the world with the right to the “Royal” title, granted by a member of the United Kingdom’s Royal Family. If a member of the Royal Family decides a golf course is worthy of “Royal” status, because it has hosted a number of prestigious events or simply because the Royal really had a good time, that member of the Royal Family becomes the course’s “Royal Patron,” an advocate as the course tries to obtain the full Royal designation. Ultimately, it’s up to His or Her Majesty. Would you believe that 25 of the 61 Royal clubs are outside the United Kingdom? Now that I’ve teased you with a few arcane factoids, here’s the game. Pretty simple. Pick the winner and the highest finishing American. I’ll pay 3 FREE ROUNDS to the person who picks both. Obviously, if you pick an American, his name fills both spots. As always, house pays all ties. Deadline for entries is midnight Wednesday, July 16th. Good luck to all! Flint the GM
