Summer is near! Remember to protect your childs skin from the harmful sun and prevent sunburn. Sun and skin exposure recommendations: 1) Apply sunscreen 20 minutes prior to going outside. Sunscreen should be SPF 30+ and protect against both UVA/UVB rays. Remember to protect your lips with lipbalm that has SPF 30+. 2) Reapply sunscreen 2 hours and after swimming or excessive sweating. 3) Avoid being in the sun during peak hours (10 am to 4 pm) 4) Wear protective clothing and wide brimmed hats Treatment for sunburns includes adequate hydration, cool compresses and/or oatmeal baths, aloe vera and pain control with ibuprofen or tylenol as needed.
