FREE MULCH ON AMERICA RECYCLES DAY, SAT, NOV 16 In observance of America Recycles Day Memphis Public Works will provide free mulch for Memphis residents Saturday, November 16th. Beginning at dawn free mulch will be available in the Liberty Bowl parking lot on Hollywood near Central). The mulch will be provided on a load-your-own, while-it-last, basis and residents must provide their own loading equipment and containers. Commercial businesses and non Memphis residents are not eligible for the free mulch. The double ground and aged landscape quality mulch is derived from over the over 1,000 tons of trees and other wood wastes collected and processed by the City in the last year. Since municipal recycling began in 1995, the City has recycled over 2.1 million tons of trees and other yard debris, saving the City over $28 million in landfill disposal. Also, Saturday’s free event will mark the 43rd such event held by City of Memphis Public Works.
