FREE SEMINAR FOR FIRST RESPONDERS AT MAGLOCLEN July 24, 2014 - Newtown, PA Co-hosted by: Middle Atlantic-Great Lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network® Livengrin Foundation, First Responders Addiction Treatment (FRAT) & Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency The Modern Warrior: A Study in Survival This block will be presented by Richard Norcross Rich survived an incident in which he was critically wounded. The incident resulted in the deaths of his brother, Police Officer John Norcross & Investigator John McLaughlin Substance Abuse Prevention for First Responders Presented By Andy Callaghan (Active Police Sergeant) & Bill Brennan (Ret. Police Sgt). First Responders workplaces are, by their nature, highly stressful. Traumatic events, typically unexpected & sudden, fall well beyond the bounds of normal experience. First Responders often cope with these stressors by problem drinking that often leads to career ending incidents. Attendees will learn how to help brother and sister officers and recognize the signs and symptoms of substance abuse. Pain medication abuse will also be discussed at this seminar.
