FRIDAY GIG GUIDE Bit of an earlier gig guide today because weve got to go and see the drill man later, which we flipping hate. Still good excuse for a beer and some live music later on and as of yet we havent decided where to head to. If you are ready to let the hair down, throw on the glad rags and party for the weekend, heres your Friday Gig Guide to help you decide where to head later on: ASHINGTON 1. Bubbles hosts their new disco night with the Ginger Jesus Travelling Damnation Show. BISHOP AUCKLAND 1. If you like your rock on the grunge side then The Merry Monk with Rock Pit is definitely the place to be as they have the excellent Real Nirvana on tonight from 9.30pm. Great tunes and a cracking night, including disco into the small hours. BLYTH 1. The Roxbury Live Music Venue Blyth brings you The B Hives tonight with support from 27 Side Effects. The B Hives are a female fronted Hives tribute act, whilst 27 Side Effects play are mashup of Grunge, Funk and Metal for their own unique sound and are currently in the process of recording their new album. 2. The Mudsharks are playing at The Isabella tonight, playing the likes of Guns n Roses, Ozzy Osbourne, Jet, Pearl Jam and many more that will have you rocking and signing all night. CHESTER LE STREET 1. Below the Bridge are the entertainment tonight at The Market-Tavern Cls, which sadly is their last gig. Influences include Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Paulo Nutini, which should all lead to a cracking night. 2. A great night of acoustic originals and covers at The Lambton Arms with DH2 tonight. CONSETT 1. One of the North Easts top metal/thrash bands, Whipfist, are appearing as Stephs The club that rocks tonight playing their own original tunes that have gained them a sizeable following. 2. Dave Alexander is playing at The Earl Grey tonight. Fantastic evening of acoustic tunes to get you up dancing and signing your heart out. CRAWCROOK 1. A brilliant night in store at The Rising Sun this evening as one of the est (if not enigmatic) bands around, The Gatecrashers, brings you a night of great tunes from just about every genre and era in music. Tracks from Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, T Rex, Aerosmith merge with medleys incorporating the likes of Queen, Hot Chocolate, Prince and pretty much anything else that goes. DARLINGTON 1. The Turks Head brings you a fancy dress evening with the theme of Rock Stars. DUNSTON 1. The Jo James Band are appearing at The Tudor Rose tonight playing rock covers with influences from the likes of Rod Stewart, Bon Jovi, Stones, Free, Snow Patrol, The Killers. DURHAM 1. A superb night at The Fighting Cock this evening with Raising Ghosts playing their own original tunes reminiscent of the 90s Alt Rock scene. Well received wherever they play and growing their fan base after each gig, this is one to catch if you can. Special mention for their guest bassist tonight Gemms Jazzbass Anderson. 2. The John Duck welcomes Uncle Gilbert this evening for your entertainment with music from the likes of Led Zeppelin, Santana, Bon Jovi, The Cult and more. FOREST HALL 1. Its a UK first and important event in blues at the Forest Hall Ex-Servicemans Club as the Newcastle Blues Club host the inaugural USA Heritage Blues Hall of Fame Newcastle Inductions awards. Entertainment is from the Trevor Sewell Band. Doors open from 7pm. HARTLEPOOL 1. The Born Villians are playing at 1908 Sports Bar tonight playing rock covers from across the last 40 years. HETTON LE HOLE 1. The New Inn brings you Dakota this evening for your entertainment playing well known rock covers with their own take on them. 2. A really excellent night at Hetton Social CLUB tonight with the brilliant THE ARRIVAL playing tracks from the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Jam, The Killers, Guns n Roses, Thin Lizzy, Kasabian, Pulp, AC/DC, Billy Idol, The Cult, and Stereophonics among others. HEXHAM 1. The Coach and Horses has one of the MUST SEE Gigs on tonight with the brilliant Ballbreakers bringing guitar rock as it should be from the likes of Ted Nugent, Gary Moore, Dr. Feelgood, ZZ Top and many more. MARSKE 1. The Frigate has Bedlam tonight playing rock covers. MIDDLESBROUGH 1. The Thorns are playing at The Normanby tonight with a fantastic set of classic and AOR such as Fleetwood Mac. 2. Doc Browns is being rocked out by The DIAMOND DOGS playing well known covers that will get you up dancing and signing all night. NEWCASTLE 1. A MUST SEE GIG at The Star Inn, Newcastle upon Tyne tonight with this machine playing some of the best tunes youll likely hear from the likes of Poison, AC/DC, Black Crowes, Buckcherry, Rolling Stones and many more. A cracking night is guaranteed. SEATON DELEVAL 1. Avalon are playing an acoustic gig at The Hastings Arms featuring well known and loved tracks thatll have you singing along all night. SOUTH GOSFORTH 1. Elysium Productions presents The John Doe Experiment, Pretty Livid Imps, & Hawkeye Roadshow at The South Gosforth Social Club. A great evening of original music being showcased. SOUTH SHIELDS 1. Trocaderos is rocking out to LA Freeway tonight playing iconic american rock from the likes of The Eagles, Doobie Brothers, Bruce Springsteen, Steely Dan and many more. 2. Prognosis are bringing you music from the likes of Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Asia, Porcupine Tree, Transatlantic, Kansas and Camel at The Sound this evening. STOCKTON 1. The Music Lounge brings you two great bands tonight: Audio-Cover playing Disco, Soul, Rock ‘n’ Roll and Motown classics, a great live band covering many styles and Village Green playing indie rock covers. SUNDERLAND 1. A superb night of (cheesy - sorry Gregg) melodic rock is in store tonight from one of the best tribute acts around, BON JOVI Forever uk tribute band, brings you the very best tracks from one the most iconic rock bands ever seen. 2. A brilliant night is in store at The Smugglers this evening with The Coal Porters bringing acoustic bluegrass entertainment thatll have your toes tapping and fingers clicking all evening, and even better support from the excellent Steve Daggett one of the norths finest singer/songwriters and musicians. WALLSEND 1. A cracking night of rock, punk, indie, Britpop is on show at The Walls End this evening with Trilogy bringing tunes from the likes of David Bowie, Greenday, The Clash, The Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, The Police, Neil Young, The Arctic Monkeys, AC/DC, Oasis, Primal Scream and many more. WASHINGTON 1. Its Squeeker at The Honest Boy tonight for an evening of tunes from the likes of The Vapors, Roxy Music, Mental As Anything, Dave Clarke Five and many more. YORK 1. Ezee Goin bring great tunes from the early rock & roll and blues eras to The Golden Lion this evening featuring tunes from the likes of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Roy Orbison, The Animals and many more.
