FROM CHIGOVA “I’m really settling well with my new teammates here. Everyone at the club from the players, the staff and the technical team has been very good to me since I arrived,” Chigova told the Daily News from his Pretoria base yesterday. “In the first week I arrived, we had to go through our medicals before we could start our pre-season training. “After the medicals were completed, we then started training on Monday this week and everything has been smooth running.” “Here they take football seriously and treat it like a real business. Starting off with the facilities, they are all in good condition, maybe it is because they hosted the World Cup recently,” said Chigova. “There are no problems between clubs and players over finances. All you need to worry about as a player is playing football and giving in a good performance on the pitch. “In terms of coaching and playing standard, there is not much difference with the coaching we get at home. What only varies is the way the coaches want to play, whether it is attacking football or defending.” Chigova will have to wrestle the Matsatsantsa number 1 jersey from the impressive Ronwen Williams, who has been the first choice keeper at the club for the past two seasons. “Ronwen is a nice person and he has welcomed me warmly since I got here,” said Chigova. “It is now left to me to work hard in training so that I can challenge him for the number 1 jersey when the season starts.” Chigova is highly rated at Matsatsantsa and the club’s CE0 had this to say when he announced the deal: “I am certain that George will push Ronwen and Boalefa Pule all the way and I’m looking forward to seeing a record amount of clean sheets next season.” Daily News
