FROM: SUNDAYS OPEN Q & A The Light we find in Genesis 1:3 is the same light we read in John 1:9, John 8:12, John 9:5? Can I say that the Light in Genesis 1:3 is God or Salvation based on 1 John 1:5? This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. ANSWER God is Light. It is part of His very nature. The future eternal kingdom of God will forever shine with the Light of God: Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. 23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. Now there is a particular light of salvation that God speaks of in relationship to this world. It is the light that He sent forth into the world (Christ) in order to enlighten the worlds darkness and to save those that were chosen to become saved. God finished that saving work by May 21, 2011 and then put out the gospel lights immediately afterwards: Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: In the historical passage youre referring to in Genesis, God is painting a spiritual picture from the very beginning of the world. Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. It is a picture of the spiritual darkness that overtook the world upon mankinds fall into sin, and the light that would come to enlighten that darkness (Christ). It is a fact that God did establish salvation prior to the creation of the world. And so yes, God is laying out a picture in the act of creation that testifies to what He has already done (as Christ was the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world) and which testifies to what He will do---in bringing the Light of the world the Lord Jesus Christ into the human race some 11,000 years later.
