FROM: SUNDAYS OPEN Q & A Today A few people have asked about doing some kind of event on the Sabbath day. I do agree with you that we are to keep the Sabbath day holy and do the things of the lord. But how do you apply this verse and other like it. AV Mt 12:10 And, behold, there was a man which had [his] hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath days? that they might accuse him. AV Mt 12:11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the Sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift [it] out? AV Mt 12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. ANSWER Good question. This verse (and many similar verses) give us the historical account of the Lord Jesus Christ performing healings on the Sabbath. Throughout the Day of salvation Gods people were to go forth with the Word of God in order that God might use His Word to heal sin sick souls. But what now since the day of salvation has ended? The same principle applies concerning the sharing of biblical truth in order that Gods sheep be fed. The sharing of spiritual things is the doing good that we are permitted to do on Gods holy day.
