FROM SYLVIA BOKORL Dear New Mexicans, --- 3 items + some comments--- On Unions 1. From Terry King, Rio Rancho -- A reply to Seth Prices comment regarding the Shame On signs that the unions prop up all around the city. I personally have made my own signs that say, We Support (name of business being targeted) for being Pro American! and stand right next to the Shame On sign holders. Really ticks them off, as I get MORE SUPPORTERS honking for my sign than the unions thugs sign. I do it whenever I have time (as I do work). Ive done it recently at the new Freddies restaurant at Coors and 528. I have also done it at Il Vicinos, Yanis, a Church over on the westside, and a restaurant downtown. We need to support these businesses who refuse to be bullied by union thugs!!! On apathy 2. From Bill Panagakos, President of North New Mexico Tea Party, Santa Fe -- [Editors Note: Recently, Bill and I exchanged remarks about the apathy that we, other organizations and Ward Chairs are dealing with and how to resolve it. Bills concluding sentence nails it.] You would think that with the worst POTUS since James Buchanan, the pitiful state of the U.S. around the world since the advent of the Obama/Clinton reset with Russia, and the total devastation of the American economy by these socialist idiots, that folks would be coming to their senses about changing our leaders and reversing these trends. Well, I will keep on trying. Yes, we must and do keep trying to reach those Americans who evidently have given up hope. The fact remains that changes are made by a very small group of dedicated individuals. We will persevere, Bill. We will help them come to their senses and we will win. MESSAGE 3. From the Republican Party of New Mexico, Albuquerque. On Tuesday, March 18, the Albuquerque Journals staff writer, James Monteleone published an article regarding Governor Martinez considering calling a special session about Tesla Motors. The special session possibility and its cause was reported on TV as well, so Im guessing that most of you have read it or know about it. If not, the RPNM sent the following URL to access the entire article -- abqjournal/370434/news/gov-weighs-special-session-to-woo-tesla.html Here are a couple of excerpts: Gov. Susana Martinez said her office is evaluating whether a special legislative session is necessary to complete the package of economic incentives being crafted to make New Mexico more appealing to Tesla Motors. . . . SylviaBokorComments: While I can appreciate Susanas interest to bring Tesla Motors to New Mexico, I work for the day when government has no say in such matters. A package of economic incentives, offered by government officials to a private enterprise should have no part in a proper government, which should maintain a rigid separation between politics and economics. However, as Carla Sonntag said to me in a discussion about de-regulation (parahrased), We have to work in steps to get to where we want to be from where we are. We cant do it in one giant leap. True enough. So I have to be patient and keep plugging. Martinez said the state is in the running for the company’s $5 billion battery manufacturing plant in part because of tax code changes made during recent legislative sessions, such as the state’s reduction in corporate income taxes and tax cuts for manufacturers who export their products out of state. Tesla plans to build a 10 million-square-foot battery plant estimated to create 6,500 new jobs. New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and Texas are considered finalists for the facility. SylviaBokorComments: --continued-- In view of the disastrous effects of minimum wages laws and Obamas economy, the closing of Albuquerque Lighting, other businesses and the rumor that Radio Shack might also be closing some of its stores here, NM would benefit greatly from Telsa opening here. Nonetheless, heres an excerpt quoting Senator Michael Sanchez: “If there is a possibility of a special session, I believe there’s going to have to be some pretty concrete evidence that what we would do here would mean that Tesla would, as a matter of fact, come to New Mexico,” said Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez, D-Belen. “. . . It’s a matter of efficiency and not wasting taxpayer money and spinning our wheels for a company that’s looking to see where they can get the best deal,” Sanchez said. What does Senator Sanchez mean by pretty concrete evidence? What could it mean? Does he mean he wants to sees plans of the facility shown on New Mexico soil? Does he mean he wants to see New Mexicans already hired to work at the plant? How on earth can one present concrete evidence of a proposal to build a plant somewhere in Texas, Arizona, Nevada or New Mexico? Maybe Senator Sanchez expects Telsa to fork over some kind of monetary bribe -- like guaranteed state revenue or a monthly check in his personal bank account? I dont know what he has in mind. But his remark about Telsa as a company that’s looking to see where they can get the best deal reveals his basic anti-business point of view. The remark about efficiency and not wasting taxpayer money is window dressing. Would anyone want an individual or a company not to look for the best deal? Does Senator Sanchez expect Telsa executives to look for the worst deal? No, he does not. No one would. What he expects is for his reader or listener to interpret his remark negatively as if looking for the best deal were some kind of awful admission of guilt that the company is concerned with values. I personally do not know what particular argument responsible government officials are gong to use to persuade Telsa to move here. The one I would offer is We will repeal all minimum wage laws. We will respect the fact that your company will offer values to our citizens in the form of jobs, products and a better standard of living; so, we will get out of your way and not tell you how to run your business or demand that you live for our benefit. Be a competent, judicious and productive employer that hires the best you can fine to perform the best you know how and we will welcome you. Expect a subsidy or invite political corruption, we will not welcome you. That kind of argument wont be used soon. But Susana is on the right track. Senator Michael Sanchez is not. His view boils down to the same familiar dictatorial method: Promise us that you will move here BEFORE we decide what to do. It is the same infamous point of view of Nancy Pelosi, dressed in different words: We have to pass it in order to find out whats in it. In other words: politicians are in charge, not the well being of citizen; so, do as I say before I do anything at all. I dont know any clearer concrete expression of the state is boss -- i.e., totalitarianism. My conclusion: Susana, you go girl! Sanchez, get lost.
