FROM THE INBOX VENT!! My SOs family is the least supportive family I have ever seen. My husband has been in the Navy for six years. His family (mother, brother, sister) didnt watch him get sworn in, graduate from boot camp, graduate from A School, come to any homecomings, and go to his reenlistment. And yes, they have been invited to each event and have come up with some dumb excuse. We have visited them nearly THIRTY times in the last four years and we have a toddler. Its not that they dont have the funds or the time to visit. They just chose not to. My husband has told them NUMEROUS times how upset it makes him and they say they are so sorry and will change which is clearly not happening. We visit my family once a year (my family lives 12 hours away, his family lives 3 hours away) and every time we do his family complains that we are visiting my family. My family visits us once every season and our daughter loves them. Our daughter has no idea who his family is. Now my husband found out that he has to work on Nov. 29th so we cant visit his family on Thanksgiving. He took two weeks off at Christmas so we can go visit my family. His family now thinks we should CANCEL going to see my family so we can see them because we cant see them at Thanksgiving. I am not a mean person that fights with anyone. It is so out of character for me to be this mad at anyone but they have pushed me to a place I dont want to be and the only way I can see this changing is if we cut his family out of our lives. Sorry about how long this. I just needed to get this off my chest!
