FROM THE LEADERSHIP OF THE UNION(Update as at July 5,2014) Yesterday,4th July,2014 the leadership of the union met to re appraise our actions and set new lines of action as regards our struggle. The following were the resolutions: 1. That while interventionists, academicians and notable third parties from different quarters continue to make frantic efforts to bring both parties back to the table we also continue with our actions. For we hold our sword in one hand and our Olive branch in the other; always ready to negotiate, but negotiating only while advancing 2. That on Monday 7th July, the leadership of the Union and other students attend a NANS Zone D Congress @ Poly Ibadan by 10am to seek joint action with other schools in coming weeks.Students who reside in Ibadan can also join us @ the congress. 3. That on Thursday, July 10, a Press Conference to be held with some past leaders of the Union @ the SUB in the morning and a Candle Light Procession in the evening. These have been outlined in remembrance of the 1999 Massacre of George Iwilade aka Africa and 4 other comrades by cult members during the Prof Wale Omole era as V.C. The press conference is to campaign against cultism, demand a reversal of all hiked fee and address other problems in the school. 4.That on Tuesday,15th July, a rally be held @ a Press concentrated location to further educate Nigerians about why we are against increment and the irresponsibility of the government towards funding education(venue, convergence and time to be communicated later) 5. That in subsequent weeks there should be Press Conferences, press campaign and actions in other states of the country 6.The management tactic of making students to pay under duress was queried. To this end we implore students to avoid any threat or blackmail that could make them to pay forcefully as payments and registrations only end after matriculation of fresh students. Also note that there has never been of recent any deduction from the management. 7.That we wish our Islamic brethren a happy and blissful Ramadan. Ramadan kareem.
