FROM THE NEWSROOM: A proposed Marianapolis Sewer Project funding - TopicsExpress

FROM THE NEWSROOM: A proposed Marianapolis Sewer Project funding increase will be the subject of a special town meeting this Thursday in Thompson. Recently appearing on the WINY talk show, First Selectman Paul Lenky explained the recent need for increased funding has prompted town officials to bring the information back before citizens for reconsideration and a vote. The additional funding would come from a $500,000 USDA grant, and will not affect taxes locally. The $500,000 grant would raise the project budget to $2.4 million and would be used for expenses that have arisen beyond the original scope of the project, including an altered sewer line boring path. The new sewer line is set to be drilled under the Exit 99 ramp and I-395, which is an increase in length from the original plan to drill under the highway exclusively. The town meeting will be held 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Town Library Community Center, while the referendum on the following Thursday would take place between noon and 8 p.m. at the regular polling locations. Tune in to WINY for more.
