FROM THE NEWSROOM: Brooklyn town officials say that a finance director has been selected for the town. “We have hired a finance director,” said First Selectman Rick Ives Thursday. “Im not at liberty to release a lot of details yet, until the person has a chance to inform current employers. Ives says that with the hire, the process of creating the position to oversee finances between the town and schools has come to a close. He says the finance director, who is not a Brooklyn resident, is a qualified, certified professional that was fully endorsed by those who were involved in the interview process. “Everyone that was involved with the interview process was very, very please with this persons demeanor and qualifications,” said Ives. “Its going to be a great hire for both the school and the town.” The announcement was made at meeting of the Board of Selectmen last night. Officials earlier stated that Brooklyns $22.5 million budget, and the changing rules and regulations regarding the handling of money and grants, warranted the need for a Finance Director. Early in the development of the position, officials said that, factoring salary, benefits and pension contribution, the position would likely cost the town in the range of $100,000 annually. Tune in for the full report.
