FROM THE NEWSROOM: Coventry police arrested two Berry Ave. residents Thursday who they say had an illegal marijuana growing operation in their basement. In a news release, authorities say that Coventry Police, with assistance from the State Police East Central Narcotics Taskforce and federal Drug Enforcement Agency, executed a search warrant at 27 Berry Ave. in Coventry Thursday, where they say they located a “medium size” indoor marijuana growing operation in the basement of the home. Police arrested the two residents, 37-year-old Jason Blakesly and his girlfriend 36-year-old Linda Dettore. Authorities seized more than 10 pounds of pot, which police say is worth $40,000, as well as indoor growing equipment, 33 plants and 11 seedlings, two Audis, several television, cell phones and computers and other items. Both face charges for possession and cultivation of marijuana, operating a drug factory, possession of paraphernalia and possession with intent to sell. Blakesley and Dettore each posted a $150,000 bond and were scheduled to appear in court on the charges on December 17.
