FROM THE NEWSROOM: Following an appearance by Governor Malloy in Putnam this week, where the states contributions to local economic development were highlighted, Mayor Tony Falzarano said that filling Putnams regional technology park -- a product largely of state funding and now under construction -- is an upcoming focus of his administration. The Governor is pushing for greater aerospace technology production in Connecticut, saying the local area is a prime location for manufacturers. “Were looking for that kind of employer in the new tech park,” said Falzarano. “We have [an aeronautical] company thats kind of interested... its a good possibility.” Falzarano says a company has also expressed interest in purchasing space at the future park for a business that manufactures solar panels. This before the town has begun marketing the park in earnest, says Falzarano, bodes well for the future of development at the site. The town of Scotland has committed to investing in one share of the regional tech park, while Pomfret and Brooklyn will both hold votes on participation in the second week of October.
