FROM THE NEWSROOM: HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut Victim Advocate Garvin Ambrose will resign July 18 after holding the post for nearly a year and half to return to his hometown of Chicago. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Ambroses resignation Thursday and said Ambrose is accepting a new professional opportunity in Chicago. Malloy appointed Ambrose as victim advocate in February of last year, and he was later confirmed by the legislature. Officials didnt disclose Ambroses new job. Phone and email messages seeking comment were left with Ambrose. Before taking the victim advocates job, Ambrose was executive assistant states attorney and legislative liaison in the Cook County States Attorneys Office in Illinois. The victim advocate is an ombudsman between crime victims and the criminal justice system and also evaluates state services for victims.
