FROM THE NEWSROOM: HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is elevating a high-ranking state energy official to commissioner. Malloy announced Thursday hes appointing Robert Klee, who has been chief of staff since 2011. He will succeed Commissioner Daniel Esty, who announced last week he was resigning to teach at Yale, which gave him a three-year leave. Klee holds a law degree and a Ph.D. from Yales School of Forestry and Environmental Studies in industrial ecology. Malloy cited Klees work as chief of staff for the agency, which he said has given him a strong familiarity with the agencys energy and environmental programs. Esty was the first commissioner of the agency merged in 2011 to oversee energy and environmental policy.
