FROM THE NEWSROOM: NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A New Haven police officer faces a disciplinary hearing over an off-duty incident in which other officers fired shots outside a local bar. Officer Krzysztof Ruszczyk initially faced criminal charges that he tried to cover up the incident, but those were dropped. The New Haven Register reports a disciplinary hearing began Tuesday night before the citys Board of Police Commissioners. Authorities say Ruszczyk was with two other officers when they fired their guns in the air after a night of off-duty drinking on April 1, 2012. The other officers involved, Lawrence Burns and Charles Kim, received suspended criminal sentences on charges including reckless endangerment. Burns was fired from the department and Kim resigned. ___
