FROM THE NEWSROOM: The Borough of Danielson held a public hearing - TopicsExpress

FROM THE NEWSROOM: The Borough of Danielson held a public hearing at the Danielson Fire Department this evening to approve the appropriation of up to $66,000 to purchase a new Emergency Response Vehicle. Fire Chief Gerry Marcheterre explained that the current EMS vehicle is 16 years old and it is to the point that the repairs have started to out way the cost of a new one. The Council unanimously approved the appropriation as no resident from the Borough attended the meeting. A public hearing was also planned to take place regarding the transfer of the sidewalks to the Town – but due to the wording in the notice this meeting will now take place on December 18, 2013 at 6:45 pm at the Danielson Fire Department. Previously the transfer was approved for the Central Business District, however Main Street to Water Street as well as the area of Reynolds Street to Spring Street should also be included. The repairs to the Fire Department have been moving slowly due to a delay with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). The Fire Department is considered a Historic Building and is awaiting a response. Elaine Lippke, President of the Danielson Borough Council stated that she will be sending a letter to SHPO with a bit of a stronger comment stating that they need this project completed and would like to see it done correctly the first time. With the colder weather arriving and continued leaks from the roof this project cannot be put off any longer. Stay tuned for more details.
