FROM THE NEWSROOM: The Putnam Business Associations second annual Bidding For Good Auction is underway, and members are hopeful that the bar will be raised this year on what was a smash hit during its debut in 2013. Up for grabs in the online auction – which benefits the local merchants association – include items youd be hard pressed to find outside of Putnam, like a Kids Paint and & Pizza Party at Artique and an iPhoneography class at the Gallery on Main Street. And that is just the point, according to PBA President Jeff Rawson, who says that members believe unique items prompted participation from the public last year; something theyre eager to recreate. “Absolutely. We have our train ride with the engineer for the Providence and Worcester Railroad, we have a hot air balloon ride, we have driving a [Chevy] Camaro for the day – all sorts of unique items which definitely have helped the auction gain in popularity,” says Rawson. One of last years favorites – playing in the dirt with a pay loader at Rawson Materials – is back again, along with new items. Bidding is done entirely online – and ends on December 8th.
