FROM THE NEWSROOM: The second phase of the remodeling and expansion of Day Kimball Hospital’s Emergency Department – which entails the remodeling of existing emergency department space to bring it up to same design and visual level of additional space created in phase one – was explored during a tour of the facility Thursday. DKH President and CEO Bob Smanik noted that the renovated space, built in a racetrack design, features identical rooms and new equipment, improved visibility from the nursing units, improved patient privacy, and a 3,500 square foot behavior health wing. Dr. Debra Campbell, Assistant Director in the emergency room, also praised the new overhead lighting that moves to make medical procedures easier. The third phase of the Putnam-based hospital’s expansion, which will include more space, is expected to be completed by summer of 2015. Tune in for the full report.
