FROM THE NEWSROOM: The third annual Harmonies & Hops will be held in Danielson tomorrow, and Danielson Adventure Sports owner Don Dauphinais says that this years festival should be bigger than ever. Dauphinais said the beer tasting event, which collects donations for the Friends of Assisi Food Pantry, will feature a new personal record – approximately 19 breweries from states including Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts have submitted entries. Even breweries from as far as Colorado will have a presence at the event, which boasts beer flavors as creative as jalapeno. In previous years, the event has raised around $2,000 for local charities; Dauphinais said things may be a bit different this year due to changes in expenses, like insurance, but the goal is to collect as much money and food donations as possible for the Friends of Assisi. But what about for those who dont drink? Dauphinais says you can still stop by, donate a non-perishable food item, and enjoy some live music and food. The beer tasting will be held at Danielson Adventure Sports at 21 Furnace Street this Saturday; the roadways will be closed off while the event runs from 2 to 6 pm; the event is day-of ticket sales only. Tune in for the full report.
