FROM THE NEWSROOM: Thompsons Boat Launch Project has seen more twists and turns than the French River that it will lead into, but First Selectman Paul Lenky says he is determined to make the boat launch a reality. After the Town failed to acquire whats commonly called “the old Landry property” adjacent to a town owned property where a former stove shop stands, Lenk says hes sparked a new plan to use the space as a drop-in point for boaters on the river. Instead of the 14-car parking and sitting area that Lenky had originally hoped for, the “Old Stove Shop” property will be used as a 6-car parking area. Because the town was unable to acquire the adjacent property, a plan to excavate raw materials to use as fill for the Community Fire Department expansion project was shelved.
