FROM THE NEWSROOM: Tourtellotte Memorial High School Principal Dr. Penny Hebert announced that she will be retiring from her post in Thompson Effective January 30 at a recent school board meeting in Thompson. Superintendent Dr. Michael Jolin says that the district may not need to embark on the traditional search for a candidate to replace the outgoing principal. Jolin says with declining enrollment in mind, a possible re-organization of existing administrators is being considered, and the position may be filled in-house with existing staff. According to the superintendent, this approach would likely save the district money, and although he could not offer any estimates for the savings, he did confirm that the current principal salary is in the neighborhood of $110,000. Having served the Thompson schools for more than ten years, Jolin says the community wishes Dr. Hebert “a happy and healthy retirement.”
