FROM THE NEWSROOM: (UPDATE) Smoking materials are likely the cause of a structure fire at a residence on Athol Street in Danielson Friday, according to Fire Marshal Randy Burchard. Its the second such fire in the last two weeks in the region, in which improperly disposed of cigarettes are likely to blame. Burchard says that investigation shows the fire originated in the basement of the unit at 9 Athol Street, and was likely caused by smoking materials that had been discarded in that area. As of Friday, Burchard says four people were displaced from the condominium unit that was damaged in the fire. The unit where the fire broke out was condemned by the building official due to water and heat damage. As reported, one person was treated for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported related to the incident last Friday. Tune in for the full report.
