FROM THE NEWSROOM: (UPDATE) Thompsons Solar Advisory Committee has taken what Selectman Kerstin Forrester calls “a cursory look” at two proposals for a municipal solar panel initiative, in the pipeline for many months. As reported, Greenskies out of Middletown and C-Tec Solar, of Simsbury, were the two companies that returned Requests For Proposals to the town for the project this week. Forrester spoke to us about what the committee found, when beginning analysis of the proposals. “One of them looks very complete,” she said. “We did have a meeting, and agreed that we have to do a comparison, an evaluation of the two companies, and then put together a spread sheet to look at our return on investment analysis for the town. Hopefully in a month we will have it ready for a decision and take it to the Board of Selectmen.” Forrester says that one of the proposals was incomplete. The other has a cost attached to it of about $1.8 million. Tune in for the full report.
