FULL CIRCLE ¬ Today, on the 33rd Anniversary of my birth, I am supremely honored to be playing my very first Secret Guest set at Momentum Happy Hour/Rite of Wednesdays Fourth Anniversary bash. When I began this journey less than 2 years ago, this free techno social in the dark seedy basement of Karma Bar and Lounge became the first weekly I made it a point never to miss. Easily half of the techno DJs I know in NYC I met through the welcoming community that found its nourishment each Wednesday at this remarkable venue; and I learned my most cherished principles of event promotion (whatever that is!) through the sterling examples embodied by my brothers Matias, Chris, Juan, Oleg and Stephen -- love, openness, non-territorialism, tenacity, nimbleness, integrity, gratitude, humility, healthful compromise, kindness, and above all, fearless honesty. In a scene that had become all too full of bullshitters, brown-nosers and backstabbers, these guys have always shone through as diamonds in the rough. And now, finally, after an incubation period, all of the souls theyve touched and guided are poised to take this city back into the hands of those who stand for the best in us.
