[FULL TRANS] 082013 TEDDY talks about the story behind producing FANTASTIC BABY: BIGBANG’s FANTASTIC BABY wasn’t a song that was made naturally. At that time, I was already done with producing ‘BLUE’ with Jiyong, and we were almost done with working on the album. But Hyunsuk hyung (CEO Yang Hyun Seok) said “This isn’t enough. We need something more powerful.” When things like that happen, we listen to the loops that I made earlier. Loops are 4 measure (bar) sketches that have no intro, verse or chorus. Whenever we need inspirations, we listen to hundreds and hundreds of them. We listen to the ones we made previously and we attach this loop to that loop and stuff. I really liked ‘BLUE’ and ‘BAD BOY’ so I had no idea how to make a better song than those two. When I am pressured like that, 100 percent of the time, I can’t make good music. Usually a song is made in a day. I can write the lyrics, hook idea and the 1st verse in a day. And after that, the recording and arranging takes about 1~2 weeks. But when I can’t make a good song in a day because I’m losing my momentum, I just throw that song away. But ‘FANTASTIC BABY’ took me about 3 weeks to just to make the song. Although that song had all those complications, the members took it well and the video came out really nice so it was a great success. That remains in my memories.
