FUNDING: Rebecca Evans AM, Labour Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, has welcomed the announcement of £6.5m in funding from the Welsh Government for Specialist Palliative Care Services across Wales in 2013-14. The Minister for Health and Social Services, Mark Drakeford, has confirmed that £2.4m of this funding will go direct to hospices themselves. Mrs Evans said: “Hospices play a very important role in providing care for people who are nearing the end of their lives. The announcement of this funding shows a real commitment to ensuring that people who choose to die in a hospice receive the very best of care, focussed on dignity, compassion and comfort.”
