FYI.... Calling all NJ First Responders, Vets/Techs & Penn Vet Students: Equine Emergency Rescue class to be held in Tabernacle on Jan 31st, and repeating Feb 1st. Please Crosspost!! Heres the skinny: Event: Equine Emergency Extraction and Transportation Training Under Incident Command Structure Date: Jan 31st (Sat) and Feb 1st (Sun) 2015. (This is a single, full day training, activities will be the same both days; register for one day only) Time: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM both days Location: Tabernacle Emergency Services Building 134 New Rd Tabernacle NJ 08088 This dual component training focuses on extrication of horses from emergency situations and is executed under the Incident Command Structure. Roger Lauze provides training for the equine handling component. Roger provides emergency transport for the Fair Hill Three Day Event at Fair Hill MD, the Rolex Three Day Event in Lexington, KY and the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, KY. Training sessions start with a 1-2 hour lecture. Hands on training scenarios include highway accidents, stall extractions, horse down on top of rider, Anderson and UC Davis sling lifts plus extrication from under cross country event fences or ravines and streams. Participants extricate and transport a 550 pound, rubber, articulated horse named Lucky. Team competition is utilized to place and rescue Lucky from creative hazards. Training regarding the Incident Command Structure (ICS) is provided by Tabernacle Emergency Response Personnel and William Lowe. Rescue exercises will be conducted under ICS with New Jersey emergency response personnel including EMS, Fire, CART and CERT personnel. This training is accredited by NJVMA and NJVTA for 8 CE credits for participating veterinarians and veterinary technicians. The training is open to NJ veterinarians, Penn Vet students and NJ first responders (EMS, fire, police and forestry, and CART/CERT members) and will be coordinated in collaboration with New Jersey Trail Ride Assoc. Auditors are encouraged. The NJ Veterinary Medical Association is providing significant financial assistance for this event.
