FYI MY DEAR FRIEND IN MOST CASES when people get in the fast lane - TopicsExpress

FYI MY DEAR FRIEND IN MOST CASES when people get in the fast lane of life, they forget to retrospect in advance. It may look simple and quite obvious and almost as if it cannot happen to you. The truth of the matter is that it can and that you will wake up when it is too late. You get a new job that you had always aspired for and then it becomes a roller coaster. You have schedules, new friends - not acquaintances - people you know, new places to visit, new status and all. It is only too easy to lose the foundations of why you wanted this status in the very first place. It could even be new found wealth after struggling for so many years in business. The issue here is changed status. You may have really aspired to become what you have now become so that in the passion of it all, you completely lose sight and memory of why you wanted to become what you are now. You may see it as an end. This would be the tragedy of it. Your own end will be abrupt, very abrupt, for you will not see it coming. You will be living at the end. When you are at the end there is nothing else coming, so whatever comes is completely unexpected. If you feel you are at the top of what you had wanted, you become momentarily deranged. You no longer have time to make yourself a better person. Your listening ability drastically reduces. You have no time for people, particularly those you consider to be ‘lesser’ beings. You start wondering what they have been doing all along not to have got where you have finally got yourself. These will usually be friends you previously had time for, but of course now that is not possible in your view. In fact the level of achievement does not really matter in this. It is the attitude. You could be a secretary, a personal aide, a CEO or an elected leader. The level is not what is important. It is how the new found success seats with you. It is of course important to celebrate your achievements, but it is tragic to get drunk with success. Every triumph should be a step to an even greater success. It should never be an end unless you are dead, and even in death there is after life, for the religious. It is always important to remember, regardless of the magnitude of the success you have attained, that you have not done it alone. There are very many people who have contributed directly or indirectly. Some have done as much as you have if not more. So celebrate in humility, for you represent the face of the success and all involved. Nothing is permanent. Be joyful in your success. However, spare everyone else agony in your celebration and joy. We swap places all too often in life. The boot could be on the other foot only too soon. Do not forget yourself. In the end you will be the enduring end result. It is important to carry a good legacy with you. It helps to define in advance the legacy you want to leave. Only then can you be sure of the path to walk. You also risk resting in your success for too long, for you had seen it as an end. That is when abrupt things happen, bringing the success to a sudden end. STOLEN
