People’s Climate March - Honolulu September 21, 2014 – 2-5 pm – Waikiki For those of you who haven’t heard already – 350.org is organizing the world’s largest climate march in New York on Sept 21st. This is targeted to be the largest climate event in history and it is happening worldwide. Obviously, not everyone can go to New York, so folks are organizing supporting marches all over the world. There will be one such march in Oahu as well as on Big Island. The Honolulu march will take place in Waikiki on Sept 21st at 2pm. We will gather at the beach in front of the Royal Hawaiian and march from there down to the zoo and Kapiolani park. This is a very important event. It is built around the idea that no great changes have ever taken place without massive citizen involvement/marches. You don’t have to dedicate your whole day, just your afternoon. Is that too much to ask for your and your children’s future? The idea is to make a statement to our nation’s and the world’s political machine that we are fed up and that we want to make a change and do something about it! This will not work without massive action! This is the single most important issue of our time. This affects ALL of our futures and our future generations. Island nations and states are the most affected by climate change. Hawaii is slowly losing its coastline and beaches and will continue to be more and more affected by extreme weather. You can make a difference by taking 3 hours out of your weekend on the 21st to show you care about your environment. Want to save the Planet? March. Want to raise awareness of climate change? March.
