Geelani says India exaggerating voting percentage in Kashmir Sunday, 14 December 2014 All Parties Hurriyat Conference chief Syed Ali Geelani Sunday said that New Delhi was exaggerating the voter turnout percentage in Kashmir. The octogenarian leader, who has been under house arrest since the elections for the local assembly began in November here, said: The Election Commission of India is spending lavishly and luring voters and with the result the corruption in state is at its peak. Though they are luring the helpless voters, yet it will bring a big shame for India. Geelani, while referring to participation of electorate and percentage of votes cast, said, New Delhi is are exaggerating these figures. These figures are not correct and we out rightly reject these figures...election commission of India has lost its credibility Geelani, who is the chief of APHC that spearheads the anti-India resistance in the contested region, said: Jammu and Kashmir people will pursue their freedom right with full determination and these so-called election won’t have any bearing on our steadfastness. His reactions comes a day after Indian prime minister Narendra Modi said that the high voter participation was been taken note by the international community. The majority have their faith in freedom struggle, Geelani declared and added: they have presented enormous sacrifices and will guard and revere these sacrifices. The three-time legislator, Geelani, while referring to elections held in year 1987, said that international community stands witness about the fact that Indian authorities manipulate elections and instead of achieving overwhelming majority by resistant camp, they with their oppression declared their stooges as victorious.
