FYI from Weymouth PD: Weymouth Police Department ConnectEd call from Safety Officer Bob Barry later today………… There has been a growing concern about several recent suspicious incidents in the Town of Weymouth. Postings on social media sites are erroneously stating that there have been “attempted abductions” in recent weeks in Weymouth. Each of these suspicious incidents was thoroughly investigated and determined not to be an attempted abduction. The safety of our children is our first priority and we take all suspicious incidents very seriously. In the event that we have a serious incident such as an attempted abduction we will use all of our resources including reverse 911 calls, social media, and the press to alert the public. Safety Officer Bob Barry has been speaking to students and has been involved with the investigations along with school officials. As he has been doing for years he is conducting his Stranger Danger Program reminding kids of what to do if they are approached by a stranger. We urge parents to follow up with their kids on everything that they have been taught by Officer Barry. We also urge citizens to continue to report any suspicious activity. Most importantly we urge students and parents whenever possible to obtain license plates of any suspicious vehicles. There will be a ConnectEd call coming out later today from Safety Officer Bob Barry with more details.
