Facebook Messenger VS National Security Agency There. I hope I - TopicsExpress

Facebook Messenger VS National Security Agency There. I hope I got your attention. I know I dont have much clout, but I wanted to point out a few simple things about Facebooks terms of use for the Messenger App. Some of you are just really freaked out. Lets think about it... 1. Remember when Snapchat asked for access to your camera? 2. Remember when Google Maps asked for your current location? 3. Remember when WhatsApp asked for access to your contacts? 4. Remember when Skype asked for access to your microphone? Of course you do. Keeping that in mind, you probably also remember the hype about the NSA using these features on your phone without your permission. In response to the outcry of invasion of privacy per NSA surveillance, Facebook actively campaigned to increase your privacy. Accordingly, people praised Facebook security for their efforts. Face it, Facebook is integrated into our way of life (or was fast becoming so...) we email, connect, network, meet and greet, socialize, express ourselves, advise, learn, play, and share. Dont live in ignorance: ANY app to which you allow access to any one of the cardinal permissions has the ability to use it, in much the same way, or at least similarly, to the ever-threatening Messenger app or worse yet, the National Security Agency. We live in a world of increasing connectivity and complexity. Joe Sullivan, Facebooks chief security officer, doesnt want to see you on the toilet any more than the rest of us. Be objective about what you have let other apps access on your phone and that should give some peace in the world of deliciously slanted, inaccurate newsflashes and trending topics. #messenger #opinion #nsa #technology #iOS #android
