Facebook rescues and advocates better be prepared to either - TopicsExpress

Facebook rescues and advocates better be prepared to either downsize or cease to exist. For over a year now, weve seen the demise of page reach. Regardless of hovering and liking, posts dont get seen. Newsfeeds are no longer news for the most part. And God forbid you like a silly cat meme, for your newsfeed will then become nothing but irrelevant tripe. Facebook has announced other changes coming to a page or newsfeed or messaging near you soon. All designed for the like it and move on crowd. Unless an organization has a multimillion dollar advertising budget allowing them to advertise or boost posts, critical posts dont get seen or spread. Basically, the only way someone reliably sees a page post is if they make the decision to actually GO to the page and read updates or funding pleas. Advertising or boosting doesnt necessarily guarantee posts, links etc. will be seen either for they are competing for the same limited space in newsfeeds as all of the others. Facebook as a means of funding rescue operations is all but over. Prepare yourselves. An advocacy group that does not have a national network, or a rescue with animals dependent on its fundraising resources that doesnt already have a reliable and consistent source of support or a local presence will soon see tough times if its only means of support is Facebook.
