Facebook wonders whats on my mind. Im so disappointed that so many of you dont understand what is happening in the world. I have never in my life seen such a rise in anti-Semitism. Jewish women being beaten in London. Riots against people in a synagogue in Paris. Stores looted and burned in a Paris suburb. Blood libel on posters and in chants in cities in Germany. A young woman lies beaten at a protest in Calgary. Anti-semitic leaflets on cars in Chicago. Students on university campuses attacked for being Jewish. Ive seen this movie before. I promise you even if you have forgotten, we havent. And if you dont join on the side of what is right, what is democratic and what is human, what do you believe in? I dont care where you are on the political spectrum or how you feel about the Israel Gaza conflict. If you arent prepared to stand up for free speech in your country, your home and protect those rights, you mean very little in this world. If you arent enraged to see your fellow citizens under attack for expressing political viewpoints or their religion or merely walking down a public street, what will get you upset? Maybe you care about animal rights? Do you know that the Gazans sent a donkey loaded with explosives? Did you know that bags of puppies were thrown by Arabs in Jerusalem? (Donkey and puppies all died). What about gay rights? Israel is the only country in the entire region where gay citizens have full freedom and rights. Womens rights? Again, Israel is the only country in the area where women enjoy freedom of ... everything. They work, vote, drive, can marry and divorce. Dont even get me started on this issue elsewhere in the region. Freedom of speech? Israel is the only country with fully democratic elections and open press. Arabs are in the Knesset, for petes sake. We are all horrified by the loss of life. If that is your primary concern, fair enough. I expect you are protesting right now outside the Syrian embassies and consulates for their decimation of their population and you will next go to those representing Iraq, Iran, Yemen, etc. Because your anger is commensurate with the number of dead.
