Facial reconstruction is complete and Angela is in recovery for a few hours. She is doing well. Dr said that she will have the tracheotomy until swelling is down and feeding tube for nutrition until she is able to use her mouth muscles. Nothing is allowed by mouth for a couple weeks so they can watch for leakage from the incision or any signs of infection.They were able to use facial tissue to avoid extensive reconstruction. They had to repair a small part of her throat but otherwise her muscles and other tissue are healthy and should be able to regain use with intensive therapy.Depending on her health and healing, radiation should start in a month.Will keep you posted with any Info received from Family.
