Facilitated by RCSS, round 13 of the Chaophraya Dialogue - a track 2 India Pakistan initiate started today in Bangkok. The mornings session review the bilateral relations and stabilization across the LoC. Key issues being addressed include: • Are existing mechanisms sufficient to curb LoC violations or is there a need for other cooperative measures for border stability? • How effective is DGMO communication as an instrument of border stability? • To what extent can the stalemate in bilateral relations be attributed solely to occurrences along the LoC during 2013? What steps can be taken in 2014 for improved border management? Chaired by Amitabh Mattoo and Sherry Rehman, speakers leading the discussion in these sessions are: Siddharth Varadarajan, Amb Aziz Khan, Jay Panda, Amb Shahid Malik, Manoj Joseph, Lt Gen Patankar, Gen Talat Masood, and Hasan Akbar.
