Faculty Highlight LeslieThompson, Ph.D. has been committed to Huntingtons Disease Research (HD) for over 20 years. HD is a devastating neurodegenerative disease, that results in loss of physical control, mental capacity, and is ultimately fatal. An estimated 30, 000 people in the US have this disease. At UCIs Stem Cell Research Center, Dr. Thompson laboratory is using stem cell approaches to investigate the disorder and identify potential therapeutic targets or treatments.
