Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged, Missing me one place search another, I stop somewhere waiting for you. ~Walt Whitman Where have the dead gone? Where can we find them? We will wear ourselves out, asking these questions, and yet we do. We look in the last place we saw them. We returned to their favorite haunts, hoping for a sense of their presence. We may find there what we are looking for. And if we do, it may make us sad, or happy. There is no predicting. People tell of encountering the spirits of love ones at places they had visited together~ or at places with which they have had no connection at all. Sometimes it seems they are notable only for their absence. Sometimes it seems we can almost call them forth. And sometimes they surprise us. As we traveled up I-35, on our way up for our 15th annual family fishing trip, each mile we got closer to Rutledge I felt like I could have a nervous breakdown! We decided it was best not to visit Jordans tree on the way up, we would go there heading home. While on our drive heading up I was looking at family photos on our iPad... I ran across some videos of our last Christmas together and there are some great videos of Jordan... Talk about rubbing salt in my wound!!!! Its priceless to have those videos but all I could think of is also what I was reminded of this morning in a letter I read from my friend Jill... I just cant believe this happened, why such a young, fun, adventurous, good kid would be taken from us, its so hard to understand! My prayers lately have been what was in the above excerpt in the book I read today... That Jordans family members, and his many wonderful friends, can feel his presence in the places we have been with him, the experiences he was such a presence in, or my favorite... my dreams, and that when we do dream we will remember them! I LOVE you Jordan Mutschler to the Moon and Back!!!
