Fairly nice day coming to a close. Morning sunshine gave way to partly to mostly cloudy skies. There were even a few showers that developed across the Eastern Ozarks this afternoon. Temperatures managed to make it into the low to mid 70s, despite the cloud cover. Well continue to have periodic shots at a few showers and thunderstorms, but the pattern later this week looks a lot more conducive to widespread rainfall. For tonight, a fast moving disturbance and cold front will lead to a few spotty showers and thunderstorms mainly after midnight. Most of the shower activity will be confined to areas east of Hwy. 65. Enough moisture may move north ahead of the front late tonight to help kick off a few strong thunderstorms with small hail. Chances for this should stay pretty far east, mainly near and east of Hwy. 63. A lingering threat for a shower or thunderstorm will continue into Tuesday morning near and east of Hwy. 63 before a beautiful day takes over. There should be enough afternoon sun to push temperatures into the upper 70s and low 80 with mid 80s possible across Northern Arkansas. The front will lift back to the north on Wednesday. This will usher in more humidity, and there will be a shot at a few showers and thunderstorms as it moves through. This front will be one of the ingredients in what should be a developing wet pattern starting Thursday. The front will shift south again Thursday, and this coupled with waves of upper level energy coming out of the Southwest, will lead to periods of rain and thunderstorms late Wednesday night through Saturday. Rainfall amounts will likely be in the 1 to 3 range for the period with the possibility that some areas could see more. Temperatures will also turn much cooler by Friday with cloud cover and rain keeping temperatures in the 50s and 60s Friday and Saturday. Well likely see a brief break on Sunday, but another storm is expected to take shape and move through by Monday morning. This storm will bring another round of showers and thunderstorms to the area late Sunday into Monday morning with cooler temperatures to follow.
