Faisal and his friend inusa were in a bus travelling to kano from calabar. It was a long and tiring journey. Their conversation gradually drifted to a discussion on different modes of transportation in nigeria. These include road, rail, air and sea transport. Their argument was about which of these was faster, safer and more convenient. Road transportation involve the use of vehicle including buses, car, lorries, motorcycles, bicycles and even domestic animal, as was the case in ancient times. By rail, the train is used as the means of transportation. Faisal recalled his days at ibadan when he lived there with his parents. His father was a business man he had to transport most of his goods which were bulky, by rail, using the train to the northern cities- kano, kaduna and , sometime, zaria faisal first trip by train was one she had looked forward to with excitement. It took his three days to arrive kano. By the time they reached there, she had lost all excitement, and was completely worn out. Travelling by train is slower than by bus or car inusa on his part narrated his experience by sea on a ship from lagos to calabar with his friend who was a ship s captain. Inusa, who cannot swim, had been scared of travelling by sea his friend reassured his of his safety, and persuaded his to go with him on that trip .
