Faith I have been thinking a lot about this post. Not so much - TopicsExpress

Faith I have been thinking a lot about this post. Not so much what I want to say but how I want to say it. For me its a very personal subject & one I am not normally prone to discussing. I guess I will start by telling you that several months ago I was asked three separate times by three separate ladies within a single week about my faith. In each of these instances I was asked the same questions as if someone had been prompting them to ask or coaching them on what to ask. Basically each of these ladies said that faith is important, that they wanted to know if I am a Christian & if I attend church on a regular basis. Each had heard rumors that I am not & had not been regularly seen in any Plattsmouth Church. I was somewhat surprised by this line of questioning seeing as how nobody in Plattsmouth has ever asked me about this until that week - and then 3 people asking the same questions? I found that rather odd. I have thought about the questions & I have decided to answer them so that everyone knows my response. I am today & have been since baptism a Catholic. I have over the years attended mass in Fort Calhoun, Florence & Bellevue. I have always figured this was OK because I was attending regular mass in the place of my choosing. Now, iT is true that the occasions on which I have attended services in Plattsmouth have been rare. I have mostly attended funerals for fallen friends & acquaintances. These are sad occasions but ones I do my best never to miss. I would also say, however, that most of the clubs I have belonged to or belong to in Plattsmouth have a religious aspect to them. The American Legion, the 40 & 8, the Boy Scouts all hold faith dear. As do I. Many of you know I have, over the past few months, been attending local Churches. I believe I have attended 9 or 10 at this point. Some believe I am doing this simply because of the upcoming election. This is not true & those of you who have talked to me about my attendance - I mean really talked to me - know that my attendance is of a personal nature rather than a public one. Because of this, I will not discuss it further here other than to let you know that I have done nothing wrong & appreciate the welcome acceptance & open arms of those with whom I have already visited. I would also like to say that if I have not yet visited your Church or House of Worship I hope to do so in the very near future. If I have overlooked you or you think I have please let me know & I will make a point to join you. I will also be returning to worship with all of you whom I have already done so & very much look forward to seeing each of you again. God bless you all & thank you, Patrick Dugan
