Faith Majemite: A timeous comet There is a popular saying that to educate the woman is to empower the nation, but beyond that rhetorics, it has become necessary that women should also be given opportunity to demonstrate whatever they must have learnt during the course of their education. In this case, Ethiope East will be counted among the few Local Government Areas in Delta State in the next few months to exemplify this precept, by voting for Honourable (Mrs) Faith Majemite popularly reverred as the Oniemo of Delta Politics as the Council Boss. The important place the emergence of Faith Majemite will holds in the annals of our political history is that she will be the first woman to occupy the chairmanship seat in Ethiope East local government, an area of predominantly male political gladiators. This will be a pointer to the fact that we are moving further away from just educating the woman, to empowering the woman politically to steer government ship. In the case of Faith Majemite, it is a good signal because we have chosed to empower a nation builder in this part of our world where it is spelt difficult for a woman to rise up to such an enviable height. Furthermore, as far as political leadership is concerned, Faith Majemite has distinguished herself from the crowd and from what I come to know of Honourable Faith, she has a baffling charisma that commands great admiration and followership. This is in addition to the fact that she is a grassroot mobilizer, philanthropist and bridge-builder. To be candid, she stands out as the most capable of the aspirants jostling to occupy the Chairmanship seat of Ethiope East Local Government Council. In same way, it can be stated that with her wealth of experience in politics at different levels, there is no doubt she is the best candidate for the job. Also, it is necessary at this point in our political life to cultivate the culture of engaging the women to contribute to the affairs which greatly affect them. Perhaps, in the world over, people are beginning to see reasons why women should be empowered in all ramifications to strengthen development. In fact, the politics of the world is changing dramatically and if we must be part of that change, then we need to engage the women politically. Therefore, the choice of Faith Majemite is timely.
