Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy - TopicsExpress

Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Proverbs 27:6 Accepting correction It takes a lot of grace to give godly correction; it takes greater grace to receive it. Not everyone appreciates correction but David did. In fact he felt indebted to those who corrected him and realized how much he owed them. For David he saw correction as an act of kindness. Loyal friends will correct one another, even when it’s painful and disruptive to relationships to do so. In 2nd Samuel 12,Nathan corrected David of his sin by sharing a story that touched David to the core. In fact David was so angry that he declared the rich man who had a large number of sheep and cattle but still took the only lamb of the poor man deserved to die. At that moment Nathan then told David that he was the man. This caused David to humble himself and repent of his sin. Sometimes it is difficult to receive correction because we could be resenting the interference or we do not want to be found out as weak or failures. However, if we learn how to accept the reproof we will find that it sharpens and helps us to become better people. The next time we are corrected we shouldn’t be too defensive rather we should remember that correction from a loyal friend can help us change for the better.
