Fall 2014 anime season roundup: Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ooji - TopicsExpress

Fall 2014 anime season roundup: Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ooji might be my favorite show of the season because it was so sweet and kept subverting tropes left and right. Great MC, unusual love interest. A very efficient show. Garo was the surprise of the season. Looks like a cheap, Saturday-morning-cartoon style shonen fightan show, but ended up being really well thought out and written. The unusual art style is a big plus, too. Parasyte: The Maxim (ongoing) is great. Excellent action, great scifi writing with strong logical motivations for characters based on facts we learn about how parasites work. Solid art and good animation. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (ongoing) is cute. Beautiful art and a decent, music-centered story is keeping me interested. Not a huge recommendation, though. Shingeki no Bahamut Genesis was frickin gorgeous. Super high production values. A sort of weird melange of fantasy tropes yields some interest, with cool designs and a couple funny characters keeping my attention. Mushishi finishes up its second season pretty well, although it became a bit formulaic towards the end, where instead of it never being lupus, its always mushi. I have no idea why I watched Orenchi no Furo Jijou. But I did. Every week. Not sure what to say. Sailor Moon continued being Sailor Moon. Dropped: Gugure! Kokkuri-san, Magic Kaito 1412, Terra Formars
