Fall Creek Falls Recently I had the opportunity to take an overnight run to a beautiful spot in Tennessee. The occasion was a little different than normal. It was a mens retreat at beautiful Fall Creek Falls State Park Tn. with approximately 80 Pathways Church Men. Out of that number we put together a group of 7 riders and it was a great time. Its safe to say that we took the long way there! We headed up through the National Park to Cherokee N.C., then on to Bryson City and Robbinsville N.C. After that we rode the approach to the Cherohala Skyway and hit the high country. I must say that the Skyway is really getting grown up with vegetation that obstructs many of the otherwise incredible views. It is one of the most expensive stretches of highway in the world so its a shame to let it go. After leaving Tellico Plains Tn. at the end of the skyway we made our way to Athens Tn and on to Fall Creek Falls. It was a 255 mile day but that wasnt the best part of the trip. Fall Creek Falls State Park is Tennessee’s largest and most visited state park. We were fortunate in that the traffic was light while we were there. The park takes in more than 26,000 acres across the eastern top of the Cumberland Plateau. Fall Creek Falls, at 256 feet, is one of the highest waterfalls in the eastern United States. Other waterfalls in the park include Piney Falls, Cane Creek Falls and Cane Creek Cascades. The park includes a lake lodge, fishermens cabins and beautiful camping spots spread across the property. There are many opportunities for short rides within the park. In short, Fall Creek Falls State Park is a great destination that I recommend highly if you could use a peaceful getaway. I want to thank Marty, Jeff, Scott, Merle, Chris and this papers owner and chief bottle washer John for the great ride along! Also thanks Sparky for driving escort. Please contact me at Jimsjourneys@outlook with ride ideas, comments, great dives for lunch, etc . On a side note, guys that ride cruisers wearing flip flops freak me out a little. Thats you John lol ! Ride Safely and God Bless!
