Family of latest death-in-custody victim astonished at official reason given BUTTERWORTH (June 10): The family of Agin Raj Sunmarkkan Naidu, who died while in police custody on June 7, is astonished that the official report on his death issued by the authorities has attributed it to epileptic fits, since the 26-year old never had such a condition in his life. His sister, Regina Devi, 23, today said the family members were taken by surprise after being informed of this following his death at the Bukit Mertajam Hospital. Regina said she and her mother Sivapakiam Palchamy, 47, had seen Agin Rajs hands handcuffed and his legs tied to the hospital bed when he was warded in custody. They became concerned as they did not see him being administered with any form of intravenous feeding, and had wanted to give him some 100 Plus isotonic drink, but this was refused. They were further shocked and hurt when they approached the doctor, who they described as an Indian woman, about his condition. Click below for the full article:
